Hi there. My name is Anthony Scala and I am the proud owner here at City Volkswagen of Chicago. I grew up in Sauganash and my first job ever was right at this very store. Kinda cool, right? My mom and dad and three sisters and brother all live in the area, so you are bound to run into a Scala at some point. This part of the city is just part of who I am, and I couldn’t be happier to be here—I am so very proud to be part of our community.
My family has been in the car business here for more than 45 years. As a teenager, my father worked for the Lynch Auto Group that used to own this very store. I started cleaning cars and bathrooms and sweeping the lots and just kept moving up from there.
I played basketball at St. Patrick High School (even got into the Hall of Fame in 2010!) and went to Lewis University on a basketball scholarship. During the summers, I worked as a porter and picked the minds of the sales managers whenever I could. I graduated college on a Saturday and was at a dealership that Monday. I started selling cars and earned promotions from assistant manager all the way up to general manager … and now I bought the place! It just made sense—this is where I feel at home.
My vision is to grow City Volkswagen of Chicago into a true community dealership right here on Irving Park Road in Portage Park. Pretty much everyone here can tell a story about how they’re from the local community, which is how you know that when you’re here, we’ll treat you like a neighbor. We offer top notch service with fair pricing because we want to build our relationship through the life of your vehicle and beyond.
